In La nourriture paired speaking activities, students practice reading, listening, speaking and writing about food in French. They talk about what food they like and dislike, (Est-ce que tu aimes les… Oui, j’aime les…) what food is tasty, and what food is good and bad for your health.

LA NOURRITURE PAIRED SPEAKING ACTIVITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING RESOURCES:

  • Illustrated Paired Speaking Activity in which students ask their partners whether they like a particular food based on the pictures and record their partners’ answers

 

  • Dice Paired Speaking Activity PowerPoint in which students throw a die and ask the question of the number indicated by the die. Each question has visuals to help students remember the food vocabulary. For example: Les frites sont bonnes pour la santé, n’est-ce pas ? Le chou-fleur est délicieux, n’est-ce pas ?

 

  • Five-page Student Handout on the Food Vocabulary / La nourriture and related expressions such as, “j’ai faim, j’ai soif; beurk; délicieux; le petit déjeuner; le déjeuner; le dîner; j’adore…; bon pour la santé” etc. Students learn words for food in French such as: les œufs, une pomme, du pain, des pommes de terre, du riz, de la paella, de’ l’agneau, des haricots verts, de la glace, des petits pois…Handout has a list of 98 words for food items.

 

  • Student Handout with conjugations for the following verbs: boire, vouloir, détester, préférer, manger

 

  • Student Handout showing the masculine and feminine form of “some” in French: du, de la with examples in context comparing the use of the partitive and the definite article, (Je veux un poulet. Je veux du poulet.) and the use of “de” for the negative. Je ne veux pas DE pain.
