Spanish Preterite Tense Speaking Activity

This resource serves as a culminating speaking activity after students have learned all of the preterite tense; regular and irregular verbs, -ir stem-changing verbs; and an introduction of the imperfect of high-frequency verbs such as, “había” (included.) Students do a presentation in pairs describing the drawings and talking about what happened using “el pretérito.” Spanish Two students do not need to have formally learned the imperfect. Spanish Three need to use both the preterite and imperfect tenses in their presentation. Students may also present individually.
